5th Police District

Lt. Howard introduced Officer Chris Jones the new Community Relations Officer for the 5th District. Officer Charlie Kline will be retiring in April 2015. Lt. Howard spoke about quality of life crimes that are most prevalent in the Roxborough community namely: theft from autos and copper pipe theft. An attendee, in anticipation of warmer weather and increased motorcycle riding, questioned the legality of “straight pipes” which create noise pollution. Lt. Howard states that the enforcement of this issue is not clearly stated. He will try to get clarification but in the meantime the office of air management deals with noise pollution.

Domino’s on Ridge proposal

Steven Pollock, zoning attorney, presented plans for an 8300 square feet, sit down, take out or delivery restaurant at 6179-82 Ridge Avenue. Current zoning of CMX-25 allows for a sit down restaurant but not a take out. No beer or alcohol will be served. Concerns from the attendees include their ability to compete with the many existing pizza/Italian style establishments. A vote was taken and a majority of the attendees were either non-opposed or in support of this proposal. CRCA will write a letter to the Zoning Board of Adjustments reflecting such. All are encouraged to attend the ZBA hearing to voice their opinion.

Solar Panel Group Purchase Program

Clean Air Council is promoting a group purchase program in our area. The deadline to sign up is March 31, 2015. The contractors are Solar States and Exact Solar,
