Police Report
CRCA President, Don Simon opened the meeting by introducing Community Relations Officer, Chris Jones.
Chris Jones introduced the 5th Districts’ new Captain, John Maroney. Captain Maroney has been with
the force for 34 years and can be reached at
john.maroney@phila.gov.
There have been 3 recent robberies, diner, Sunoco and phone store. The suspect in the phone
store has been apprehended. There will be 2 bike patrols during school dismissal. There was a recent
arrest for assault and robbery at Ridge and Walnut Lane (students).
Samaritan’s Choice
Laura Geery, of Leverington Presbyterian Church spoke about the Samaritan’s Choice, fill a
shoe box for those less fortunate. November 16-23 the boxes and donations will be collected.
Folk Song Society
The Folk Song Society is under contract to purchase the Church at Ridge and Roxborough Ave. They have
retained legal counsel to help them through the zoning process.
Read and Eat Café
Representatives from Read and Eat Café, Jake and Don Greenberg spoke about their new enterprise. It will be at the
former Crossroads Café, 6156 Ridge Ave. They are currently open but will have a “Grand Opening” on
November 21st. Hours of operation will be 7 AM – 10 PM.
Bus Shelter Petition
If you would like to see a bus shelter at Ridge and Lyceum Ave. Sign the
online petition .
365 Green Lane Update
Roger Ross gave an update on the 365 Green Lane renovation. Explained the delay (5 months to get permits).
The exterior is nearly done. The pilot house will be his personal space aka man cave.
CRCA Bylaws
Proposed changes to CRCA bylaws, which were presented at October’s meeting were read and accepted.
The bylaws now reflect that membership dues will be decided by the executive board and the nominating committee.
Standing committees and district representative duties have also been revised. To join a committee access
