Central Roxborough Civic Association Meeting Minutes

Officer Kline

5th District Community Relations officer Charlie Kline thanked CRCA for their donation to the Children’s Holiday party that will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2013. He also reminded everyone that theft from autos is still an issue in our neighborhood. The police are currently getting warrants to apprehend the Bell’s Mill car thieves, but he reminds everyone to remove all valuables from cars. A burglar on Valley Avenue has been apprehended thanks to a call from a neighbor who noticed suspicious activity and called 911.

LOOP program

Josh Cohen of Councilman Jones Jr.'s office provided information on the LOOP program. Possible real estate tax relief for long term residents whose property values have tripled (minus the $30K homestead exemption) Check the website to see if you qualify.

438 Conarroe St

Michael Cooley presented plans for 438 Conarroe St. Plans involve removing drive through bank standards, landscape according to zoning specifications, repaving, installing brick piers, entry gates, shoebox lighting. Entry and exits from both Green Lane and Conarroe Sts. There will be ~30 parking spots and the goal is for employees of Roxborough Commons to utilize this lot, thereby freeing up parking for customers at Roxborough Commons. A neighbor whose side yard abuts the property requested that the parking lot lights be turned off after business hours.

439 Monastery Ave

Bob Torres owner of 439 Monastery Ave. is requesting a use variance for the conversion of a former barn into 3 housing units. He has already renovated the first unit. Unit A is 2 bedroom, 2 bathrooms, a garage(entry from Monastery Ave), It will be rented for ~$1800/month. Each unit will have two bedrooms with its own washer/dryer. There will be two open air parking spots. Unit B will be on two floors with a patio area at street level.

446 Green Lane (e-cigarette lounge)

The e-cigarette lounge ZBA hearing was held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013. The business variance was denied.
